The role of technology in carbon removal strategies

Exomad Green is boosting its production capacity in Bolivia with plans to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and support local communities.

A significant development in the biochar industry has emerged from Bolivia, where Exomad Green has initiated the expansion of its production site in Concepción. This strategic move aligns with the company’s ambitious objective to remove 800,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere by the year 2027.

This expansion is not only focused on increasing output but also on enhancing Exomad Green’s operational capacity in order to deliver substantial carbon removal. The company plans to augment its biochar production capabilities not only at the Concepción site but also at its facility in Riberalta. Further, Exomad Green has outlined plans to establish three new biochar production facilities by 2027, with the first expected to be operational in Guarayos by 2026.

Earlier in 2023, Exomad Green distinguished itself in the market by providing 50% of all biochar-based carbon removal credits currently available. This remarkable achievement has positioned the company at the forefront of the industry.

With the upgrade at the Concepción plant, Exomad Green aims to elevate its production capacity from 60,000 tonnes to 120,000 tonnes per year by 2025, underscoring the vital role of this increase in fulfilling their broader growth strategies. In addition to the environmental implications of biochar carbon removal, Exomad is also devoted to supporting local communities. The company distributes its biochar product at no cost to regional farmers, who utilise it to enhance soil health and increase crop yields.

In tandem with their production goals, Exomad Green is committed to social development initiatives. The company is involved in efforts to improve educational opportunities and healthcare services within the communities where they operate. Furthermore, Exomad’s production facilities are contributing to job creation in the rural areas of Bolivia, bolstering both the local economy and community well-being.

With these robust growth plans being methodically implemented, Exomad Green is asserting its position as a key player in the global biochar sector, with aspirations to make a considerable impact on carbon removal and sustainable community development.
